Fresno State beat Washington State 29-6 in the Jimmy Kimmel L.A.Bowl
INGLEWOOD, CA -The Fresno State Bulldogs defeat the Washington State Cougars 29-6 at the SoFi Stadium in the Jimmy Kimmel L.A.Bowl.
Jake Haener threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns, and Jason Mims carried the football 18 times for 209 yards and two touchdowns.
Fresno State had a first down on the Cougars' 22-yard line, and Jake Haener connected with his wide receiver Zane Pope in the endzone, and the extra point was good by Abraham Montano to take a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.
The Bulldogs had a chance to go up 10-0 in the second quarter, but Mantano missed a 36-yard field goal attempt on fourth down.
Fresno State was facing a third and twenty, and Haener threw a 23-yard pass to Jordan Mims for a first down at their 39-yard line. The Cougars had fourth and one on their 23-yard line and went for it, and was stopped by the Bulldogs' defense.
The Bulldogs increased their lead to 14-0 with a three-yard touchdown run by Mims. Fresno State's defense pressured Washington State's quarterback Cameron Ward in the endzone, and he stepped out of bounds for a safety to make the score 16-0.
Fresno State led at halftime 16-0, but not before Haener, with nine seconds left, threw a 39-yard pass to Nikko Remigio to Washington State's eight-yard line as time expired.
Haener completed 16 of his 24 passes for 225 yards and one touchdown, and Mims carried the football eight times for 76 yards and one touchdown.
Washington State scored in the third quarter and trailed 16-6 with a 1-yard touchdown by Nakia Watson.
The Bulldogs would respond to the Cougars' touchdown with a score of their own after Remigo's 12-yard touchdown catch making the score 22-6.
Fresno State would score one more time in the fourth quarter when Mims scored on a 2-yard touchdown making the final score 29-6.
Ward finished the game by completing 22 of his 32 passes for 137 yards and one interception.
