LAS VEGAS, NV - The Las Vegas Raiders are (5-5) after their linebacker Robert Spillane sealed the game by intercepting a pass by Zack Wilson with 1:14 left to seal the 16-12 victory over the New York Jets (4-5).

Las Vegas at home is 3-1, with a slightly better offensive ranking (26th) in the league than the Jets ranked (30th), and New York was a 1.5-point favorite due to their elite defense, ranked 8th in the NFL.

The Jets and the Raiders would load the box and focus on stopping the opposing team's running game.

Davonte Adams, the All-Pro receiver for the Raiders with his first catch of the game, passed Jerry Rice, becoming ninth all-time in the NFL for receptions, and entered the game with 13 consecutive touchdowns on Sunday Night, the longest streak in NFL history.

The Jets came out firing passes to their wideout Garrett Wilson. New York's first drive stalled once inside the Red Zone due to pressure from Pro Bowl Defensive End Maxx Crosby, who forced an intentional grounding penalty. New York had to settle for a 47-yard field goal by Kicker Greg Zuerlein to take an early 3-0 lead.

O'Connell used play action to hit Adams again for a 39-yard reception and would make a spectacular one-hand grab to bring the Raiders into field goal range, and Daniel Carlson kicked a 41-yard field goal to tie the game 3-3.

A holding penalty would stall the Jet's next drive and settle for a 52-yard field goal to take a 6-3 lead. O'Connell, on the next possession, looked like a rookie and fumbled the football to start the drive, and on the next play, he stared down Adams, and the Jets' safety Jordan Whitehead intercepted his pass.

During the second quarter, cornerback Amik Robertson from the Raiders took a knee to the head and remained still on his back for minutes.

Robertson had been one of the most productive members of the Raiders secondary. Fortunately, he was able to walk off the field under his power. After the game, Robertson said he would be back for the next game.

Quarterback Zack Wilson scrambled up the right sideline for 20 yards to the Raiders 3-yard line. A holding penalty took a touchdown run by Breece Hall off the board. The Raiders defense held and forced another field goal to make the score 9-3.

After sequential passes to Adams and Myers, the Raiders drove down to the Jets' 27-yard line. The Jet's defensive line showed why they are the 8th-ranked defense by generating two sacks and taking the Raiders out of field goal range. Later in the quarter, the Raiders converted on a 54-yard field goal to end the half, making the score 9-6.

The first half was about both defenses stopping the run and forcing field goals. The Raiders amassed a lowly 137 yards of total offense for the half. If you eliminate Davante Adams' 8 receptions for 86 yards, the rest of the team only had 51 yards of offense.

The Jets were a little better on offense and accumulated a total of 196 yards for the half. The Jets wideout Garret Wilson ended the half with five receptions for 67 yards.

The Jets opened the third quarter with three consecutive penalties while wide receiver Garrett Wilson was being treated on the sideline for injury.

Las Vegas started the second half on the 32-yard line, trailing 9-6. The Raiders center Andre James was having a problem with the Jets' nose tackle Quinnen Williams, who caused a tackle for loss and a holding penalty that negated a 1st down, and the Raiders were forced to punt.

Deandre Carter gave the Raiders a spark with a punt return to the Jets 47-yard line.

The Jets continued to coral the running attack by Josh Jacobs. Eight minutes into the third quarter, Jacobs had 11 carries for 27 yards. The Jets' defense continued to sack O'Connell and put the Raiders in long-yard situations.

On 4th and 1, Josh Jacobs rushed for the 1st down to extend the drive. Daniel Carlson tied the game 9-9 with a 40-yard field goal with 2:36 left in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Raiders defense continued to pressure Wilson and force the Jets to punt. The Raiders started their next drive on their 47-yard line after another quality punt return by DeAndre Carter. Jacobs finally broke free for a 40-yard gain and fumbled the ball out of bounds on the 6-yard line, but the Raiders retained possession.

The Raiders would take the lead 16-9 when Rookie tight-end Michael Mayer caught a 7-yard touchdown pass when the football went over the Jet's safety Jordan Whitehead.

The Jets responded with a 6-play, 48-yard drive that resulted in a 45-yard field goal by Zuerlein, cutting into the Raiders' lead of 16-12. On the next drive, the Raiders faked a quarterback sneak on 4th and one and handed it off on a fly sweep to convert the 4th down.

Head Coach Antonio Pierce said after the game, "They got us on defense a couple of times during the week with that same play." The Raiders continued to run the ball with force and finally started winning the line of scrimmage. The Raiders had the momentum and appeared to be in position to seal the game when Jacobs fumbled the football again.

The Jets needed to drive 75 yards to re-take the lead. There was 6:06 remaining in the game. Wilson would complete seven passes and led the Jets downfield to the Raiders' 22-yard line with two minutes left in the game.

Linebacker Robert Spillane came up with his third interception of the season with 1:14 seconds left in the game. With the ensuing possession, the Raiders failed to run out the clock. On a 3rd down with one minute left in the game, the Raiders' offensive coordinator, Bo Hardegree, went against conventional wisdom to run the ball and drain the clock.

O'Connell failed on the pass attempt, which gave the Jets the ball back with 53 seconds remaining on the clock. The Jets were also able to save one timeout. The Jets drove the ball down to the Raiders' 44-yard line.

With five seconds remaining in the game, Wilson's next pass was batted down in the endzone, which sealed the victory for the Raiders.

After the game, Head Coach Antonio Pierce stated that he was stressed out on the sideline and did not know how coaches do this for 30 years. He also stated, "The Jets defense looked good on paper, on film, and in person."

The Raiders will play next Sunday on the road against the Miami Dolphins.
