LOS ANGELES, CA - The No.1 USC Trojans, despite being idle for almost two weeks had no problem beating the No.16 UNC Greensboro Spartans 71-25, the lowest scoring mark in the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament history.

JuJu Watkins scored 22 points, 8 rebounds, Kiki Iriafen with 13 points and 13 rebounds, Kayleigh Heckel with 8 points, Avery Howell 6 points, 8 rebounds, and Rayah Marshall 5 points, 6 rebounds and 7 block shots.

"Glad to get the first one out of the way," USC head coach Lindsay Gottlieb said. "We were a little bit rusty on offense."

The defense for the Trojans smothered the Spartans players on offense in all four quarters allowing 7 of 54 shots from the floor 13.0 percent, and three-point range 4 of 18 for 22.2 percent.

"Our defense is something we really take pride in, so when things aren't going our way on one side of the floor we really try to make it up," said Watkins, who played under 30 minutes for the first time in 1 1/2 months.
