LOS ANGELES, CA - Clayton Kershaw (7-4) went 7.0 innings and allowed only two runs and nine strikeouts, and Mookie Betts's second game with two home runs beat helped the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Yankees at Dodgers Stadium 8-4.

This would be the first time in Betts' career of having back-to-back games with two home runs in a game.

"[He's] the modern-day Rickey Henderson," Roberts said of Betts at the leadoff spot. "He's instant offense. Getting in the box, we throw up a zero, and he puts up 1-0 in the bottom of the first. Guys feed off that.

Kershaw's first pitch led to a single by Gleyber Torres into center field. Moments later, he got Aaron Judge to hit into a double-play to get the first two outs and struck out Anthony Rizzo for the final out in the top of the first inning.

Los Angeles led 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning when Mookie Betts hit a solo home run over the left-field wall. Max Muncy would give the Dodgers a 3-0 lead with his two-run home run over right field.

Things got worse for the Yankees' pitcher Luis Severino, after giving up a single to center field by James Outman, allowing J.D. Martinez to come home to make the score 4-0.
