Los Angeles Sparks outlast Dallas Wings in a thriller 93-91

LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Sparks (5-6) held on to beat the Dallas Wings (5-4) in a thriller 93-91, with Britney Sykes off the bench scored 25-points, Liz Canbage 19-points, Nneka Ogwumike 16-points, 10 rebounds, and Katie Lou Samuelson with16-points.

Isabelle Harrison led Dallas in scoring with 20-points off the bench, followed by Arike Ogunbowale and Marina Mabrey, each with 16-points, Satou Sabally with 12-points, and Allisa Gray with 10-points.

The Sparks took a 14-7 lead with a jump shot by Liz Canbage in the first quarter. Dallas trail 16-9 with a jump shot by Arike Ogunbowale. The Sparks led 20-11 with a layup by Brittney Sykes.

The Wings were down 24-12 with a hook shot by Isabelle Harrison. The Sparks, at the end of the first quarter, led 28-15 with a jump shot by Sykes.

Dallas trailed 30-20 in the second quarter with a jump shot by Charli Collier. Katie Lou Samuelson would make a layup to give the Sparks a 34-20 lead.

Marina Mabrey had Dallas trailing 36-24 with her jump shot. Canbage would make two free throws to give the Sparks a 40-24 lead with 6:22 left before halftime.

Ogunbowale would make a three-pointer that made the score 40-30. Nneka Ogwumike made a layup to give the Sparks a fifteen-point lead, 45-30, with 3:50 left in the second quarter.

The Wings trailed 45-34 with a jump shot by Allisha Gray. Lexi Brown would knock down a deep three-point shot to give the Sparks a 51-39 lead. Nneka Ogwumike made one free throw that made the score 52-40 to end the quarter.

Dallas trailed the Sparks 56-50 in the third quarter after a jump shot by Ogunbowale. Nneka Ogwumike's jump shot gave the Sparks a ten-point lead, 63-53, with 4:47 left in the quarter.

Canbage would make a driving layup that made the score 67-55. Chennedy Carter from the Sparks jump shot had Dallas trailing 70-58.

Dallas trailed 73-63 after a layup by the Sparks' Olivia Nelson-Ododa. The Sparks led at the end of the third quarter.

The Sparks led 76-69 in the fourth quarter with a three-pointer by Samuelson. Satou Sabally's three-pointer had Dallas down by one point, 78-77, with 6:44 left in the game.

Dallas got their first lead of the game, 79-78, with a layup by Mabrey. The Sparks trail 81-80 with a layup by Nneka Ogwumike.

The Sparks regained the lead 84-83 with a jump shot by Ogwumike with 3:48 left in the game. Sykes' driving layup made the score 88-83. Dallas called a timeout with 2:59 left in the game.

Mabrey's step-back jump shot had Dallas down by three points, 88-85, with 2:08 left in the game. Canbage was fouled on her made put-back basket, and made her free throw was good to give the Sparks a 91-85 lead with 28.3 left in the game.

The Wings trailed 91-88 with a three-pointer by Sabally. Sykes would make two free throws to give the Sparks a 93-88 lead.

Dallas was down by two points, 93-91, with a three-pointer by Isabelle Harrison with 5.5 seconds left in the game. Ogunbowale had a chance to tie the game with two free throws but missed both free throws and the Sparks got the rebound and held on to win 93-91.
