IRVINE, CA - The Los Angeles Rams held their training camp at UC Irvine with a packed house of Rams fans enjoying Saturday evening with family and friends.

As usual, the music was pumping, the players were hype-up, and the atmosphere was electric for training camp as the Rams prepared for their preseason games at home against the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders and on the road against the Denver Broncos.

Head coach Sean McVay was very upbeat about what he saw during training camp getting ready for their preseason and the game plan for those games before the season opener on the road against the Seahawks on Sunday, September 10 at 1:25 PM.

"While players like Donald, Stafford, and Kupp won't play, it's still possible other players with experience and roles see action – primarily due to the fact that, "there's a lot of players on this team that haven't had an opportunity to even really suit up, play real tackle football, that we're going to be counting on against Seattle (in Week 1)," according to McVay.

Matthew Stafford looked very sharp during the camp and the issue of his throwing arm from last season seems to be behind him. Tutu Atwell, now in his second season with the Rams, Stafford had great praise about the young wide receiver.

"When it comes to Atwell's growth from his rookie year to now, Atwell knows exactly where he fits in all three receiver positions in the offense. "We're asking him to do a lot of different things and play some different spots, and he's not flinching at all," Stafford said.

The other concern was Copper Kupp, day-to-day, who injured his hamstring during drills at training camp on August 1.

"He just felt a little tweak, it was a red zone route," McVay said after Saturday's training camp practice. "Just felt a little tightness in his hamstring. I don't think it's anything to be overly concerned with. But we want to be able to be smart with him. I'm hopeful to get him back out here sooner than later, but he knows his body so well, and he's got a specific plan. And you guys see him, he's out here moving around."

The Rams are hopeful Cupp would be back during joint practices with the Raiders before their preseason game on August 19 but are being careful not to bring him back too soon.

"As far as exactly when he's back, you know, I'm definitely hopeful that by the time we at least have our competitive practices against the Raiders, he's able to get that kind of work, because I think that is important," McVay said. "Don't want to rush it, but I think it's kind of more of a day-to-day thing. It's not something that we expect to drag on, but you never know with the soft tissue stuff."

Aaron Donald was pleased about the defense during training camp and how the younger players are doing, and defensive end Earnest Brown IV, nose tackle Bobby Brown III, and defensive tackle Marquise Copeland as players who have looked good, while rookie nose tackle Kobie Turner has shown "flashes."
