Stanford stuns Arizona State at the buzzer 71-70

LAS VEGAS, NV - The Stanford Cardinal came from behind to beat the Arizona State Sun Devils 71-70 in the first round of the Pac-12 Men's Basketball Tournament at T-Mobile Arena.

Spencer Jones had 26-points to lead Stanford in scoring, followed by James Keefe with 16-points and Brandon Angel with 15-points. DJ Horne led Arizona State in scoring with 21-points, Marreon Jackson with 14-points, and Jay Heath with 12-points.

DJ Horne's three-point shot gave the Sun Devils a 3-2 lead in the first half. Stanford trail 6-4 after a three-pointer by Alonzo Gaffney. James Keffe had the Cardinal trailing 8-6.

Brandon Angel's hook shot had Stanford trailing 10-8. Jensen's deep three-pointer had the Sun Devils up 13-8. Stanford tied the game 13-13 after a jump shot by Spencer Jones.

The Sun Devils led 20-13 with a jump shot by Keffe with 9:15 left in the first half. Jones's three-pointer cut into the Sun Devils' lead 22-18. The Cardinal were down by two points after a three-pointer by Jones.

Michael O'Connell's jump shot had the Cardinal down by three points 28-25. Jackson's three-point shot made the halftime score 31-27.

Jones led Stanford in scoring in the first half with 11-points and Keefe with 6-points. Arizona State was led in scoring by Jackson with 11-points, and Horne and Muhammad both with 5-points.

Arizona State led in the second half 39-29 after Horne made a three-point shot. The Sun Devils led 42-30 with another three-point shot by Horne. Gaffney's three-pointer gave the Sun Devils a 50-33 lead with 13:35 left in the game.

Angel made the score 50-38 after making a free throw after being fouled on his made basket. Stanford trailed by ten points 53-43 after a three-point shot by Angel.

Gaffney's layup gave the Sun Devils a 55-46 lead with 7:20 left in the game. Jones made two free throws that made the score 59-50. Arizona State led by twelve points 62-50 after a three-pointer by Horne.

Jones kept Stanford in the game with his jump shot that made the score 65-55. Kimani Lawrence's monster dunk had the Sun Devils leading 69-55.

The Cardinal were down by eight points, 69-61 after a put-back basket by Keefe. Jones's two free throws had Stanford trailing 69-64 with 1:28 left in the game.

Angel's layup made the score 69-66 with 50 seconds left in the game. Stanford trailed Arizona State by one point, 70-69, with 42 seconds left in the game when Jones made a three-point shot.

Stanford came from behind to beat Arizona State 71-70 with a buzzer-beater jump shot by Keefe, and the Cardinal fans went crazy. Stanford will play the Arizona Wildcats on Wednesday at 12 PM.
