The 49ers beat the Rams 24-9 in an NFC West Showdown on Monday Night Football
SANTA CLARA, CA - The San Francisco 49ers (2-2) and their defense kept the pressure on Matthew Stafford all night and came away with a 24-9 victory over their NFC West rival the Los Angeles Rams (2-2) on Monday Night Football.
The Rams' offensive line allowed Stafford to be sacked seven times by the 49ers' defense while completing 32 of his 48 passes for 254-yards and one interception.
Jimmy Garoppolo had a solid game completing 16 of 27 passes for 239-yards and one touchdown, and Deebo Samuel (WR) had 6 catches for 115-yards and one touchdown.
The Rams led 3-0 in the first quarter after Matt Gay kicked a 39-yard field goal. The 49ers scored and now led 7-3 after Jeff Wilson Jr. (RB) ran into the endzone for a 32-yard touchdown.
Gay would kick a 29-yard field goal that had the Rams trailing in the second quarter 7-6.
Deebo Samuel caught a 57-yard touchdown pass from Garoppolo that gave the 49ers a 14-6 lead into halftime.
The 49ers' defense had the Rams' offense out of sync and had to settle with Gay kicking a 26-yard field goal to have the Rams trailing 14-9 at the end of the third quarter.
The 49ers led in the fourth quarter 17-9 after their kicker Robbie Gould kicked a 25-yard field goal.
Stafford had the Rams' offense on the move when a pass intended for Copper Kupp was intercepted by the 49ers' Talanoa Hufanga who ran it back for a 52-yard touchdown that made the final score 24-9.
Kupp finish the game with 14 catches for 122-yards, Tyler Higbee 10 catches for 73-yards, and Allen Robinson II just 2 catches for 7-yards. Next week the Rams will host the Dallas Cowboys at SoFi Stadium.
