The Dodgers’ Gavin Stone have a career-night to help beat the Mariners 3-0
LOS ANGELES, CA - Starting pitcher Gavin Stone struck out a career-high 10 batters through seven innings to help the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Seattle Mariners 3-0 Monday night at Dodger Stadium.
Stone (11-5) gave up two hits while walking two and Evan Phillips closed out the ninth inning to earn his 16th save of the season.
"Felt good with everything pretty much and Will (Smith) did a great job calling pitches," Stone said. "They're a team that swings a lot so getting ahead was huge."
Gavin Lux gave the Dodgers their first lead of the game with a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
In the next at-bat, Will Smith was hit by a pitch and Seattle starting pitcher Bryan Woo was replaced by Yimi Garcia.
Max Muncy welcomed Garcia into the game with a 2-run home run to give the Dodgers a 3-0 lead. This was Muncy's first game back from injury since May 15.
"It's a little bit of a relief," Muncy said. "The mechanics feel really good. Obviously, the timing isn't where I want it to be."
In the second game of the series, Walker Buehler (1-4) will make his second start since returning from the injured list.
Seattle will send Bryce Miller (9-7) to the mound.
