The Padres hit two home runs to beat the Dodgers 7-1

LOS ANGELES, CA - The San Diego Padres beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-1 after Dustin May (1-2) the starting pitcher gave up four hits, six runs, two home runs, and struck out five batters in five innings.
It was May's third game back after having Tommy John Surgery and he wasn't in command of some of his pitches after walking five batters, and hitting two batters.
"It's just his third start with us, so to expect him to be lights out every time he takes the mound is unfair," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. "I think with Tommy John, the main thing is he continues to build up, stay strong, and the command should start to come."

The Padres starting pitcher Yu Darvish pitched 7 innings and gave up two hits, and had nine strikeouts to improve his record to his (12-7).
May in the top of the first inning, got Jurickson Profar to fly out for the first out. Moments later, he walked both Juan Soto and Manny Machado to have men on first and second base in scoring position.
May was able to get Josh Bell to pop up for the second out and struck out Jake Cronenworth to get out of the inning.
The Padres struck first in the top of the third inning when Machado hit a two-run home run to left-center-field to take a 2-0 lead. Brandon Drury gave the Padres a 4-0 lead with a two-run home run, also into left-center field.
Darvish in the bottom of the fifth inning reached a milestone in his career by striking out Cody Bellinger for his 3000th strikeout.
The Dodgers trail the Padres 7-0 in the top of the sixth inning after Profar hit a three-run home run over the right-center-field wall off relief pitcher Heath Hembree.

The Dodgers scored their only run in the bottom of the ninth inning when Joey Gallo hit a line drive into right field that allowed Justin Turner to come home to make the final score 7-1.
With the loss, the Dodgers' record is now (90-41), and the Padres are in second place in the NL West with a record of (74-59).
They now lead Milwaukee by four games for the final playoff spot and moved ahead of Philadelphia by half a game into the league's second Wild Card.
