The Rams’ defense with four turnovers helped defeat the Raiders 20-15
INGLEWOOD, CA - The Los Angeles Rams defense came up with four turnovers, forced Gardner Minshew to throw three interceptions, and forced a fumble to help defeat the Las Vegas Raiders 20-15 at SoFi Stadium.
"I think we're starting to find our identity," coach Sean McVay said of the defense, "putting guys in the right spots and being able to take advantage of their skillsets."
Matthew Stafford only completed 14 of his 23 passes with one interception, and Kyren Williams rushed for 71 yards and two touchdowns.
Las Vegas took a 3-0 lead in the second quarter with a 38-yard field goal by Daniel Carlson after going 56 yards on nine plays.
The Rams' defense came up with a stop with an interception by Cobie Durant to give them a great field position at the Raider's 47-yard line.
Matthew Stafford would throw a 23-yard pass to his tight-tend Colby Parkinson to get a first down at Las Vegas' 13-yard line.
The Rams would take advantage of the takeaway with a 23-yard touchdown run by Kyren Williams to take a 7-3 lead with 3:00 left before halftime.
Los Angeles got their second turnover of the game and would take a 14-3 lead after Durant forced a fumble by Gardner Minshew II and recovered by safety Kamren Curl for a 33-yard touchdown. The Raiders trailed at halftime 14-6 after Carlson kicked a 47-yard field goal.
The Rams' defense would get their third interception of the game after their safety Jaylen McCollough picked off Minshew's pass at the Raiders' 31-yard line, and a few plays later, Xavier Smith on a wide receiver end around, scamper down the left sideline for 24 yards to the Raiders' two-yard line.
Williams would score his second touchdown from two yards out to give the Rams a 20-6 lead in the third quarter. Las Vegas trailed 20-9 when Carlson made a 38-yard field goal.
The Raiders' defense got their first turnover after Nate Hobbs (CB) intercepted Stafford's pass at the 49-yard line and returned it to the Rams' 14-yard line.
Los Angeles would hold Las Vegas on 3rd and five, forcing them into a field goal for Carlson from 28-yard out, and made the score 20-12 in the fourth quarter.
Stafford would hit his wide receiver Tyler Johnson for 37 yards down to the Raiders' 24-yard line. Los Angeles stopped at Las Vegas' 18-yard line on 3rd and 12, and Carlson missed a 35-yard field goal.
Las Vegas would score their final points with 2:46 left in the game after Carlson kicked a 27-yard field goal that made the final score 20-15.
