The UCLA Bruins beat the Cal State Fullerton Titans 64-41 at Pauley Pavilion

 WESTWOOD, CA - The UCLA Bruins (9-0) had no problem beating the Cal State Fullerton Titans (4-3) at Pauley Pavilion 64-41 with their leading scorer Kiki Rice with 14 points, Charisma Osborne with 13 points and Christeen Iwuala with 10 points.

The Bruins made 24 of 61 shots from the floor for 39.3 percent while dominating the paint with 40 points and committed 27 turnovers, and the Titans made only 12 of 50 shots for 24.0 percent and committed 15 turnovers.

"I thought our defense in the first half was excellent," said UCLA Women's Head Basketball Coach Cori Close. "The defense of, specifically, Charisma Osborne, Kiki Rice, and Londynn Jones was disruptive but disciplined, and that's something we've been really searching for."

UCLA led 7-2 after Charisma Osbourne made a jump shot. Cal State Fullerton would trail 12-6 after a jump shot by Una Jovanovic before the Bruins ended the first quarter leading 14-6.

The Titans trailed 14-8 in the second quarter with a basket by Gabi Vidmar. Cal State Fullerton called a time-out after the Bruins went on a 6-0 run capped off by a layup by Kiki Rice, making the score 20-8.

Christeen Iwuala posted up in the paint and scored with a jump shot to Give UCLA a 22-10 lead. The Bruins had a seventeen-point lead, 27-10, with another layup by Rice.

UCLA led Cal State Fullerton at halftime 31-12, with Osbourne and Brown leading the Bruins in scoring both with 10 points.

The Bruins led 35-16 in the third quarter with a layup by Lina Sontag. The Titans were down 37-18 after Ruby MacDonald's jump shot.

Osbourne would knock down a three-pointer making the score 42-21. Rice's layup gave the Bruins a 51-26 lead at the end of the third quarter.

The Titans were trying to get back in the game with a basket by Janvanovic, now trailed 51-34. Fujioka Nimmo's layup had Cal State Fullerton down 53-38 with 4:36 left in the game.

Jones went coast-to-coast to the basket and was fouled on her made layup, and made her free throw to give UCLA a 58-39 lead. Iwuala's put-back basket gave the Bruins a 64-41 lead to end the game.

Una Jovanovic led Cal State Fullerton in scoring, with 15 points, and Fujiki Nimmo with 10 points. UCLA will open Pac-12 Conference play against their cross-town rivals, the 9-0 USC Trojans, at the Galen Center
