Turnovers Doom the Clippers in a 105-90 loss to the Warriors
LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Clippers were sloppy in taking care of the basketball and gave up too many offensive boards loss to the Golden State Warriors 105-90.
Paul George led the Clippers in scoring with 30-points, and Marcus Morris Sr. and Eric Bledsoe scored 13-points apiece.
Stephen Curry led the Warriors in scoring with 33-points, Otto Porter Jr. 18-points, Jordan Poole 17-points, and Andrew Wiggins 12-points.
The Clippers had 24 turnovers, and with Reggie Jackson scoreless, it was a long night for the Clippers against a good time like the Warriors.
"They're a terrific team, but I think this game we kind of just beat ourselves," Clippers Head Coach Tyronn Lue said. "We had a lot of turnovers and we gave up a lot of offensive rebounds, so we actually guarded well, but we just didn't execute and finish the play by getting the rebound and going to the other end."
Paul George gave the Clippers a 2-0 lead in the first quarter. Stephen Curry's three-pointer gave the Warriors a 3-2 lead. Eric Bledsoe tied the hame 5-5 with his three-point shot.
The Warriors led 10-7 after a three-pointer by Andrew Wiggins. George's layup gave the lead back to the Clippers 11-10 with 6:52 left in the quarter. Ivica Zubac's bank shot had the Clippers up 13-10.
Marcus Morris Sr. was fouled on his shot and made his free throw giving the Clippers a 16-10 lead. The Clippers led 19-12 after a three-pointer by Morris Sr.
The Warriors trail by two points 19-17 after a jump shot by Gary Payton II. Serge Ibaka's hook shoot increased the Clippers' lead to 24-17. Curry's three-pointer made the score 24-20 to end the quarter.
Terrance Mann's free throw gave the Clippers a 25-22 lead in the second quarter. Bledsoe's layup gave the Clippers a four-point lead 27-23, and the Warriors called a timeout with 9:53 left before halftime.
The Warriors tied the game 27-27 with a layup by Wiggins. Curry's driving floater gave the Warriors a 29-27 lead, but George's layup tied the game again 29-29.
Mann made two free throws to give the Clippers a 33-31 lead with 5:51 left in the first half. The Warriors tied the game again 34-34, with a layup by Draymond Green.
The Warriors led 35-34 with a pair of free throws by Otto Porter Jr. The Clippers regained the lead 36-34 after George made two free throws. Morris Sr.'s put-back basket gave the Clippers a 38-36 lead.
Jordan Poole's dunk tied the game 40-40 for the Warriors with 1:59 left in the first half. Curry's three-pointer had the Warriors up 43-42. The Warriors led at halftime 44-42.
George led the Clippers in scoring in the first half with 12-points, Morris Sr. 11-points, and Bledsoe and Zubac both with 6-points.
The leading scorer for the Warriors was Curry with 13-points, Porter Jr. with 9-points, and Wiggins with 8-points.
The Clippers trail the Warriors 48-44 in the third quarter after a jump shot by Curry. Curry continued his hot shooting with his jump shot gave the Warriors an eleven-point lead 55-44.
Morris Jr.'s jump shot had the Clippers down 56-51. Bledsoe's three-pointer made the score 56-54. Poole's jump shot gave the Warriors a 58-54 lead.
The Clippers trail 60-57 after a three-pointer by Mann with 3:13 left in the third quarter. The warriors led 64-61 after a jump shot by George. Poole's three-pointer gave the Warriors a six-point lead 67-61.
Isaiah Hartenstein's jump shot inside the key made the score 69-65. The Clippers trail the Warriors at the end of the third quarter 75-68 when Poole made a three-point shot.
Amir Coffey's jump shot had the Clippers trailing 77-70 in the fourth quarter. The Warriors were up by fourteen points, 84-70, after Juan Tuscano-Anderson made a layup, forcing the Clippers to call a timeout.
After the timeout, George made a jump shot making the score 84-72. Curry made back-to-back three-point shots that had the Warriors leading 95-77 with 5:20 left in the game.
George's three-pointer made the score 98-80. The Warriors led 100-84 after a layup by Justise Winslow with 3:00 minutes left in the game.
The Warriors beat the Clippers 105-90 improving their record to (18-2), and the Clippers fell to (11-8).
The Clippers only made 9 of 28 of their 28 three-point shots for 32.1%, and the Warriors made 17 of 40 their three-point shots for 42.5%.
