LOS ANGELES, CA -The USC Trojans (13-4) played solid defense from the start until the end and upset the No. 2 ranked Stanford Cardinal (17-2) at the Galen Center 55-46.

Destiny Littleton led USC in scoring with 18 points, Okako Adika with 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Taylor Bigby and Kayla Williams both had 9 points. Cameron Brink led Stanford in scoring with 11 points and 14 rebounds, Talana Lepolo with 9 points, and Hayley Jones with 8 points.

The last time USC beat Stanford was in 2014 in the Pac-12 Tournament, and you could hear the shouts of jubilee all over the Galen Center after knocking off the No.2 team in the country.

"I just thought we really took care of business this weekend, which is the understatement of the century," USC head coach Lindsay Gottlieb said. "Stanford is so good. They're No. 2 in the country. I thought we executed the game plan, were super tough, and made plays the whole game. I haven't even looked at the stat sheet because who cares, right?"

Rayah Marshall gave the Trojans a 4-0 lead in the first quarter with her jump shot. Stanford trail 6-2 with a layup by Talana Lepolo. USC led 11-2 after a jump shot by Destiny Littleton. Cameron Brink made a layup had Stanford trailing at the end of the first quarter 11-4.

Stanford trail 11-6 in the second quarter with another layup by Brink. The Trojans led 12-6 with a free throw by Kayla Williams. Littleton would knock down a three-pointer from the top of the key to give USC a 15-7 lead.

The Cardinal trailed by four points, 15-11, with two free throws by Brink. The Trojans led 17-11 with a pair of free throws by Littleton. A jump shot and a three-pointer by Brooke Demetre had Stanford trailing 17-16.

Taylor Bigby with a three-pointer and Littleton with her jump shot gave USC a 24-19 lead at halftime.

Littleton led USC in scoring in the first half with 9 points, and Brink led Stanford in scoring with 7 points.

Stanford trailed 24-22 in the third quarter with a three-pointer by Lepolo. Brink would have her shot blocked by Marshall, got the rebound, and made a layup, and the Cardinal were trailing 27-24.

The Trojans led 33-26 with a three-pointer by Littleton. Stanford trailed 34-31 with a three-pointer by Agnes Emma-Nnopu.

USC led 40-33 with a pair of free throws by Kayla Williams. Williams would nail a three-pointer just before the buzzer went off to give the Trojans a ten-point lead, 43-33, at the end of the third quarter.

USC led 46-35 in the fourth quarter with a three-pointer by Okako Adika. The Cardinal were down 46-39 with a layup by Haley Jones. Marshall would make one free throw to give the Trojans a 47-39 lead with 4:27 left in the game.

Jones would make two free throws that had Stanford trailing 47-41. Williams knocked the ball off Jones to give the ball back to USC.

The Trojans led 48-42 with a free throw by Littleton with 2:08 left in the game. Marshall would make a free throw to give USC an eight-point lead, 49-41, with 1:31 left in the game.

Littleton would make free throws in the closing seconds of the game to seal the win and improve the Trojans' record in the Pac-12 to (3-3) and Stanford (5-1).

USC only had 7 turnovers and five block shots in the game and Stanford committed 22 turnovers was a major factor in their win.

"It wasn't just turnovers, it was bad shots," Stanford head coach Tara VanDerveer said. "I don't know that we can do anything any worse. This has to be rock bottom in terms of execution offensively, and lack of screening. They got to the free-throw line 26 times. Even with all of those bad things, it was a six-point game with three, four minutes left."

USC will be on the road and will play Washington State on Friday, and Washington on Sunday.
