Aces snap two-game losing streak after beating Sparks 79-73

LOS ANGELES, CA - Kelsey Plum scored 29-points along with A'ja Wilson 25-points and 11 rebounds, helping the Las Vegas Aces end a two-game losing streak and knocked off the Los Angeles Sparks 79-73.

Nneka Ogwumike had another double-double with 18-points, and 11 rebounds, Lexie Brown had 17-points off the bench, Liz Canbage had 12-points, and Brittney Sykes had 10-points.

Las Vegas head coach Becky Hammon was pleased with how Plum and Wilson ran the offense and played defense.

"For Kelsey and A'ja to take the reins there, when we were a little battered and bruised in some other spots, was big," Hammon said.

Nneka Ogwumike gave the Sparks a 2-0 lead in the first quarter. A'ja Wilson tied the game 4-4 with a reverse layup. Liz Canbage gave the Sparks an 8-4 lead with her layup.

The Aces called a time-out after Ogwumike's layup that made the score 10-4 with 6:08 left in the quarter. Cheney Ogwumike jump shot made the score 12-4.

Kelsey Plum's three-pointer made the score 12-7. The Aces trail 18-13 with a three-pointer by Theresa Plaisance. The Sparks led 26-21 at the end of the first quarter.

Canbage made two free throws to give the Sparks a 29-21 lead in the second quarter. Kiah Stokes' jump shot had the Aces trailing 29-25. Nneka Ogwumike gave the Sparks a 31-27 lead.

A'ja Wilson's jump shot had the Aces down by two points, 29-27. Kristi Toliver's three-point shot made the score 34-29. Jackie Young's layup had the Aces down 34-31.

Back-to-back baskets by Wilson gave the Aces a 35-34 lead with 3:44 left before halftime. Olivia Nelson-Ododa made two free throws which had the Sparks trailing the Aces at halftime, 40-36.

Wilson's jump shot at the start of the third quarter gave the Aces a 45-38 lead. The Sparks trail by five points, 47-42, with a layup by Canbage. Lexie Brown's three-pointer made the score 49-45.

The Sparks trail 50-48 after a three-pointer by Katie Lou-Samuelson. Theresa Plaisance's jump shot made the score 52-48. Brown tied the game 52-52 with a three-point shot.

The Sparks regained the lead 55-52 with another three-pointer by Lexie Brown. Nneka Ogwumike driving layup had the Sparks up 57-52 with 2:40 left in the third quarter.

Plum would tie the game 57-57 with two free throws. Skyes would make two free throws to give the lead back to the Sparks 59-57.

Plum's step-back jump tied the game again 59-59 to end the third quarter.

The Sparks led 63-59 in the fourth quarter with back-to-back baskets by Sykes. Plum had the Aces down by one point, 63-62, with her three-point shot.

Canbage would tie the game again 67-67 with two more free throws with 6:15 left in the game. Nneka Ogwumike, with a layup, had the Sparks down 70-69. The Aces led 73-69 with a free throw by Wilson.

Sykes pulls up for a jump that made the score 73-71. Dearica Hamby made a free throw to give the Aces a 74-71.

Brown's layup had the Sparks trailing 74-73 with 2:30 left in the game. The Aces ended the game with a 5-0 run to win their first game after losing back-to-back games.
