Dak Prescott and the Cowboys’ Defense beat the Saints 27-17

NEW ORLEANS - A four-interception night for the Saints quarterback Taysom Hill led to the fourth straight loss for New Orleans (5-7) as they fall to the Dallas Cowboys (8-4), 27-17.

The Saints lose their fifth consecutive game since the season-ending injury of quarterback Jameis Winston.

Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy did not make the trip to New Orleans after testing positive for Covid-19.

Dan Quinn, the defensive coordinator for the Cowboys, subbed in as the head coach for the game.

The Saints were missing both starting tackles, Terron Armstead and Ryan Ramczyk, due to injury, along with running back Alvin Kamara missed his second straight game with a knee injury.

Hill finished the night completing 19 of 41 passes, throwing for 264 yards, two touchdown passes, and four interceptions. Hill was most effective in the run game with 11 carries for 101 yards.

Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott threw for 238 yards, completing 26 of his 40 passes with one touchdown and an interception.

Dallas struck first, capping off a 6-play, 80-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown pass from Prescott to Michael Gallup as they took the early lead, 7-0.

New Orleans, next drive on offense, found the endzone after Hill threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to his wide receiver Lil'Jordan Humphrey, tied the game 7-7.

The next Dallas drive would stall on the New Orleans 36-yard line as kicker Greg Zuerlein made a 55-yard field goal to take the lead, 10-7.

After a series of three and outs by both teams, the Saints'Saints began driving in Cowboys territory. Hill dropped back and threw a pass down the left sideline intended for Kenny Stills was intercepted by Jayron Kearse.

The interception led to three more points as Dallas finished a 12-play, 79-yard drive with a 34-yard kick by Zuerlein to go into halftime leading, 13-7.

The Cowboys received the football on the opening kickoff of the second half, and the Saints defense forced a three and out to give Hill and the offense the ball.

The offensive woes for the Saints would continue as the Dallas defense would end their driving deep in their territory. New Orleans kicker Brett Maher would make a 42-yard field goal to inch the deficit closer, 13-10.

On the next drive for Dallas, Tony Pollard, their running back, ran for a 58-yard touchdown to extend their lead to 20-10. The Saints found momentum after Marcus Lattimore intercepted a pass by Prescott. However, five plays later, Hill would find himself in a similar situation as he threw his third interception of the game to Damontae Kazee.

On the next drive, Hill would throw another interception to Trevon Diggs, the rookie cornerback who was once a receiver who recorded his ninth interception of the season.

The turnovers would continue as Hill threw his fourth interception of the game to Carlos Watkins, who returned it 29-yards for a touchdown, extending the lead for Dallas to 27-10.

With 2:52 remaining in the game, Hill found his wide receiver Deonta Harris for a 70-yard touchdown pass, but it would not be enough as the Saints came up short and fell to the Cowboys 27-17.

The Saints (5-7) will travel to New York to take on the Jets (3-8) as they try to end a five-game losing streak.

Dallas (8-4) will go on the road and play divisional rival Washington (5-6) as both teams fight for playoff position and the NFC East title.
