Josh McDaniels gets his first win at Allegiant Stadium beating the Vikings 26-20

LAS VEGAS, NV - The Las Vegas Raiders (2-0) hosted the visiting Minnesota Vikings (0-1) for their second preseason game and gave Josh McDaniel his first win at Allegiant Stadium by beating them 26-20.

"I've been around a lot of preseason games over 22 years, and I don't remember one feeling like this," McDaniels said postgame. "I would just say that the reception from our fans, getting to know Raider Nation the way that you see them now, it's just different. … That is the best atmosphere in a preseason game that I've ever been a part of. And that's easy to say that, clearly.

"I can't wait to play another time in here, and then get to the regular season and have the opportunity to do it for real in the regular games."

Jarrett Stidham got the nod as the starting quarterback and completed 10 of his 15 passes for 68-yards, Nick Mullens 7 of 9 passes for 94-yards, one touchdown, and Chase Garbers 2 of 3 passes for 19-yards.

Brittain Brown carried the football 14 times for the Raiders with 54-yards and one touchdown. DJ Turner had three catches for 58-yards and one touchdown.

The Raiders had their running game clicking early with Zamir White running the football down to the Vikings' six-yard line and had to settle for a twenty-three-yard field goal by Daniel Carlson to lead 3-0.

The Vikings' offensive line had a hard time protecting their quarterback Sean Mannion, who got sacked for a six-yard loss by the Raiders’ Gerri Green, forcing them to punt.

Minnesota, guilty of two penalties, had the Raiders' offense on their 19-yard line. The Raiders, on fourth and one, pick up the first down with a 2-yard run by Kenyan Drake to their 4-yard line to end the first quarter.

The Raiders in the second quarter led 10-0 after Stidham scrambled into the endzone for a 4-yard touchdown run with 14:25 before halftime.

The Vikings had a good offensive drive going down to the Raiders' 1-yard line. The Raiders held the Vikings from scoring a touchdown on third and two and had to settle for a 20-yard field goal by Greg Joseph to trail 10-3.

Minnesota's defense sacked Stidham for an eleven-yard loss and had to punt the ball away on third and ten.

Kellen Mond came into the game replacing Mannion at quarterback and drove the Vikings’ offense to the Raiders' 10-yard line right before the two-minute warning.

The Raiders' secondary and pass rush put pressure on the Vikings on third and two at the Raiders' 5-yard line and held the Vikings to a 23-yard field goal by Joseph trailing 10-6.

The Vikings continued to pressure Stidham and sacked him for the second time for a 7-yard loss by T.Y. McGill Jr., forcing the Raiders to punt the ball that ended the first half with the Raiders leading 10-6.

Nick Mullens started the third quarter at quarterback for the Raiders on their first offensive possession and threw a laser pass to DJ Turner for a 34-yard touchdown to increase the Raiders' lead to 16-6.

Minnesota was down by three points, 16-13, after Mond threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Albert Wilson and the extra point by Joseph was good.

Mullens and the Raiders' offense would respond after the Vikings scored and drove their offense to the 3-yard line before the third quarter ended.

In the fourth quarter, the Raiders would lead 23-13 after a 1-yard touchdown by Brittain Brown with 13:41 left in the game. Carlson, with 6:38 left in the game, kicked a 47-yard field goal making the score 26-13.

Mond would take the Vikings' offense 75-yards, and putting them in scoring position, threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Wilson to trail the Raiders 26-20 with 3:44 left in the game.

The Raiders' defense held the Vikings and forced them to punt, and Garbers would take the Raiders’ offense to the Vikings' 47-yard line and 29 seconds left on the clock, and took a knee to run out the clock.

Mond would finish the game and completed 9 of his 14 passes for 119-yards and two touchdowns.
