Max Muncy's two home runs help the Dodgers beat the Giants 6-3
LOS ANGELES, CA - Tyler Anderson (14-3), who pitched seven innings, got some run support from Max Muncy by hitting two home runs to help the Los Angeles Dodgers (93-42) beat the San Francisco Giants (65-69) at Dodgers Stadium 6-3.
Anderson gave up eight hits and two home runs while striking out three batters. The Giants' Jarlin Garcia (1-4) pitched 1.2 innings and gave up four hits, five runs, and two home runs.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts had great praise for Muncy, who is starting to get that swagger back, finding his way back, to be Muncy of old.
"He's just taking really consistent at-bats," said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. "Really happy for him. He's been obviously grinding all year just to get to this position and, like I've always said, he's a big part of what we're doing as an offense. When he's doing well, it seems like guys feed off that."
The Giants took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Lewis Brinson hit a solo home run over the left-center field wall off of Tyler Anderson.
The Dodgers took the lead 3-1 in the bottom of the second inning when Joey Gallo hit a three-run home run over the center field wall.
Max Muncy gave the Dodgers a 5-1 lead in the bottom of the third inning when he hit a two-run home run over the right-center field wall.
Tyler Rodgers for the Giants came in the game to replace Jarlin Garica and kept the Dodgers scoreless.
The Giants trail 5-3 in the top of the sixth inning after Brandon Crawford hit a two-run home run over the right-field wall.
The Dodgers led 6-3 in the bottom of the sixth inning after Muncy hit his second home run of the night over the left-center field wall that had their fans standing on their feet. "Mad Max is Back".
That home run was the 20th of his career against the Giants, and one short of tying his career-best against one team, the Colorado Rockies with 21 home runs.
Clayton Kershaw will take the mound on Wednesday afternoon in the hope of getting the win to take the series against the Giants, and get closer to clinching the National League West.
