Paul George gets injured and the Clippers fall to OKC 101-100
LOS ANGELES, CA - Paul George left the game in the fourth quarter with an apparent injury and the Los Angeles Clippers lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder 101-100 on Tuesday night at Crypto.com Arena.
George crumbled to the floor after going up for a rebound and banged their legs with the opponent on the way down. He had to be helped off the court.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, medical imaging showed the forward sustained a sprained right knee and will be reevaluated in 2-to-3 weeks.
George was averaging 23.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 5.1 assists while shooting 45.6% from the field and 37.5% from 3-point range.
“I didn't see the play,” Kawhi Leonard. “I just thought he got hit in the face at the time.”
OKC was led by Gilgeous-Alexander who scored 31 points against his former team. Jalen Williams added 20 points for the Thunder.
The score was tied 91-91 when George got hurt. The Thunder scored six straight points to take a 97-93 in the fourth quarter.
The Clippers trailed 101-100 after Nicolas Batum hit a jumper. Los Angeles challenged an out-of-bounds call with 30 seconds left but lost the challenge.
After the Thunder missed a shot, Leonard grabbed the rebound and dribbled down the court in the final seconds. The Clippers didn’t have any timeouts and Leonard was surrounded by the Thunder, who didn’t let him get a shot off.
The Clippers currently sit at No. 5 in the Western Conference, 1.5 games ahead of the Dallas Mavericks for seventh place.
