The Clippers hold on to beat the Lakers in a thriller 111-110

LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Clippers (27-27) had a double-digit lead held on to beat the Los Angeles Lakers (25-28) in a thriller, 111-110, at the Crypto.com Arena.

Marcus Morris Sr. had 29-points to lead the Clippers in scoring, Reggie Jackson 25-points, Serge Ibaka 20-points, and Luke Kennard 10-points off the bench.

Anthony Davis led the Lakers in scoring with 30-points, and 17 rebounds, Malik Monk's 21-points, and Russell Westbrook's 17-points.

Both teams took care of the basketball. The Clippers had only ten turnovers, and the Lakers had just eleven turnovers.

The points in the paint were about even, with the Lakers 52 and the Clippers 54. It was a great game of cat and mouse as each coach was in a chess match, countering each other moves.

"I thought it was a good chess match back and forth. Coach (Frank) Vogel did a good job trying to keep me off balance," Clippers coach Tyronn Lue said.

Avery Bradley gave the Lakers a 3-0 lead in the first quarter. Nicholas Batum made a jump shot that had the Clippers down 5-4.

Serge Ibaka gave the Clippers an 8-7 lead with his baby hook shot. The Clippers led 11-7 after Marcus Morris Sr. made a three-pointer forcing the Lakers to call a timeout.

Russell Westbrook would make a bank shot making the score 11-9. The Lakers regained the lead 13-12 after Telon Horton-Tucker's driving layup.

Anthony Davis tied the game 15-15 after making a dunk shot with 5:15 left in the first quarter. Isaiah Hartenstein gave the Clippers a 28-26 lead at the end of the first quarter with his jump shot.

The Clippers trail the Lakers 32-30 in the second quarter after Austin Reaves made a three-point jump shot. Camelo Anthony made a three-pointer gave the Lakers a four-point lead 37-34.

Brandon Boston Jr.'s jump shot made the score 40-38. Terrance Mann s jump shot tied the game 40-40 with 7:18 left before halftime. Luke Kennard's three-pointer had the Clippers leading 43-41.

Ibaka's layup had the Clippers up 45-41. The Lakers retook the lead with a dunk by Davis, now led 46-45. Ibaka gave the lead back to the Clippers 49-46, forcing the Lakers to call a timeout with 3:13 left in the game.

The Lakers tied the game 51-51 after a three-pointer by Malik Monk. The Clippers' back-to-back baskets by Ibaka and Morris Sr. gave the Clippers a 55-51 lead with 1:33 left in the second quarter.

Reggie Jackson's first basket of the game was a three-pointer that gave the Clippers a five-point lead at halftime 59-54.

The Clippers led the Lakers by eleven points, 74-63 in the third quarter after Jackson made a three-point shot. Moments later, Jackson with another three-pointer, gave the Clipper a 79-67.

Morris Sr. would make a three-pointer to give the Clippers a fifteen-point lead 82-67, and the Lakers called a timeout with 8:36 left in the third quarter.

The Clippers led 94-82 at the end of the third quarter after a jump shot by Davis. The Lakers were down by ten points in the fourth quarter 94-84 after a running slam dunk by Reaves. Westbrook, with a driving layup, made the score 94-86.

Westbrook would make a jump shot that had the Lakers down 94-88 with 9:35 left in the game. The Clippers had to call a timeout after the Lakers were down by four points, 94-90 after another jump shot by Westbrook.

Jackson made a backward-reverse layup that gave the Clippers a 96-90. The Lakers were down 96-91 after a free throw when the Clippers' Morris Sr. got a technical foul.

Davis, followed-up dunk had the Lakers down by two points, 96-94, with 5:42 left in the game. You could see the calm look on the faces of the Clippers, despite being in a dogfight with the Lakers.

"We're confident in ourselves, how we play, our approach to the game. We never get rattled, Jackson said.

Morris Sr. made a fade-away jump shot giving the Clippers a six-point lead, 100-94.

Trevor Ariza shot a deep three-point shot making the score 100-97. Jackson would make a jump shot making the score 102-97. Jackson would make two-free throws that made the score 104-97.

Westbrook made a three-pointer at the top of the key and had the Lakers trailing 104-100 with 2:23 left in the game.

The Lakers would regain the lead 108-106 with a three-point shot by Monk with 28.1 seconds left in the game.

Morris Sr. would give the Clippers the lead 109-108 after making a three-pointer with 18.0 seconds left in the game.

The Clippers were napping on defense when Westbrook gave Davis an alley-oop pass for a dunk with 12.5 to retake the lead 110-109.

Reggie Jackson drove to the basket with 4.1 seconds left on the clock and made a driving layup to give the Clippers a 111-110 lead.

Davis had a chance to win the game at the buzzer, but his floating jump shot went in and out of the basket, and the Clippers dodged a bullet after being up at one point by 15 points to come away with a victory.
