The Rams are Super Bowl Bound after beating the 49ers 20-17 in the NFC Championship Game

INGLEWOOD, CA - Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams were finally able to get the monkey off their backs by beating the San Francisco 49ers 20-17 in the NFC Championship Game at So-Fi Stadium.

The victory was sweet after losing to the 49ers six times straight and the payoff was the second team in NFL history to make it to the Super Bowl and play in their home stadium.

Stafford completed 31 of his 45 passes for 337-yards, two touchdowns, and one interception will cherish this moment that all his hard work has paid off for him and his teammates since he came to Los Angeles from Detroit.

"You can't write the story any better," Stafford said. "I'm at a loss for words. I'm just having a blast playing ball with these guys, and, shoot, we've got one more at the home stadium. Let's get it done."

Cooper Kupp had eleven catches for 142-yards two touchdowns, and Odell Beckham Jr. had nine catches for 113-yards. Cam Akers carried the ball thirteen times for 48-yards.

Los Angeles missed a golden opportunity to score when Matthew Stafford tried to force a pass into the endzone to Cooper Kupp, which was intercepted by the San Francisco 49ers by Jimmie Ward (FS) to their 23-yard line. The Rams struck first in the second quarter when Stafford threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Kupp in the corner of the right side of the endzone led 7-0 with 8:46 left in the first half.

Deebo Samuel's 44-yard touchdown pass from Jimmy Garoppolo tied the game 7-7 with 6:10 left before halftime.

The Rams could have been up by two touchdowns when the sure-handed Kupp watched a pass hit him in stride, and he dropped it, and the other touchdown when Ben Skowronek couldn't catch the football over his shoulder in the endzone.

The 49ers led 10-7 at halftime after Robbie Gould kicked a 38-yard field goal.

San Francisco would score again in the third quarter when JimmyGarroppolo threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to his tight-end George Kittle, making the score 17-7.

The Rams trail the 49ers 17-14 in the fourth quarter after Stafford threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Kupp with 13:30 left in the game.

Stafford and the Rams dodged a bullet when he threw a pass downfield, and the 49ers' Jaquiski Tartt (SS) dropped a sure interception.

Moments later, Matt Gay, with 6:49 left in the game, tied the game 17-17 with a 40-yard field goal.

The Rams regained the lead 20-17 after Gay kicked a 30-yard field goal with 1:46 left in the game.

The Rams' defense sealed the game when Aaron Donald was chasing down Garoppolo and had him in his grasp, forcing him to throw a hasty pass intended for JaMycal Hasty and was intercepted by the Rams' Travin Howard (ILB) to send them to Super Bowl 56.

Garoppolo completed 16 passes for 232-yard with two touchdowns and one interception. Deebo Samuel carried the ball four times for 72-yards and one touchdown catch, and George Kittle 2 catches for 27-yards and one touchdown.

After the game, Beckham Jr. shared his thoughts about playing the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.

"At this point, it's just a story," Beckham said of the Rams' struggles against the 49ers. "And either you choose to buy into it, or you choose to rewrite it …. What better way to rewrite the story than to win the NFC championship against the team who you're 0-6 against, or whatever the record is?
