LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Dodgers opened the rivalry series with a 3-1 win over the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium.

Chris Taylor knocked in two runs on a single, and starting pitcher Julio Urías (2-1) threw six scoreless innings to help the Dodgers capture their 15th win of the season.

"Every time we step on the field with them, it seems like it comes down to the last out," Taylor said. "The crowd was awesome. It's exciting playing in this rivalry."

San Francisco's starting pitcher Carlos Rodón (3-1) took his first loss of the season after only allowing three hits in six innings. Rodón threw 27 pitches in the second inning and walked two batters before Taylor's RBI single.

"Little wonky second inning there, walking two lefties that are guys I need to get," Rodón said. "And Chris Taylor is a pretty good hitter."

In the seventh inning, the Giants got on the board when Wilmer Flores scored on a pinch-hit sacrifice fly from Luis Gonzalez.

The Dodgers took a 3-1 lead in the eighth inning after Hanser Alberto scored on a wild pitch by José Alvarez. Alberto doubled and advanced to third base on a Mookie Betts single.

New closer Craig Kimbrel earned his fifth save of the season. Kimbrel gave up a two-out bunt single but got Luke Williams to ground into a force out to get the save.

"It's going to be a good matchup all year long," Kimbrel said. "It's not too many times you have two teams in one division that good and have that many wins."

Game two of the series is Tuesday, where Los Angeles will face former Dodger Alex Wood (2-1). The Dodgers have not announced a starter.
