The Rams dropped their first preseason game 34-17 to the Chargers

INGLEWOOD, CA - The Los Angeles Rams' first preseason football game didn't go as planned, were defeated by the Los Angeles Chargers 34-17 at SoFi Stadium.

The Rams Stetson Bennett, at quarterback, completed 17 of his 29 passes for 191 yards and one touchdown, and the Charger's Easton Stick threw for 109 yards and one touchdown after completing 14 of his 21 passes.

Royce Freeman for the Rams carried the ball seven times for 26 yards and one touchdown, and Elijah Dotson for the Chargers ran the football six times for 92 yards and two touchdowns.

Most of the damage by the Chargers came in the fourth quarter, with two rushing touchdowns by Elijah Dotson.

The Rams head coach Sean McVay despite the two late touchdowns in the fourth quarter by the Chargers of the edge, did like how Bennett and the offensive line in the second half had better rhythm.

The Los Angeles Chargers took a 3-0 lead in the first quarter after their starting quarterback Easton Stick drove down the field for 59 yards to their 35-yard line, and Cameron Dicker kicked a 50-yard field goal.

The Chargers led 6-0 in the second quarter with a 25-yard field goal by Dicker. Deruis Davis electrified the Chargers' fans with his 81-yard kick-off return for a touchdown, and Dicker kicked the extra point, making the score 13-0 with 9:50 left before halftime.

The Rams Stetson Bennett got their offense going and threw a pass to Ben Skowronek, giving them a first and goal at their nine-yard with his nine-yard catch.

The Rams got a break after the Charger's JT Wood (S) was penalized for a dead-ball personal foul giving the Rams a first and goal at the Charger's 4-yard line.

The Rams would trail 13-7 after an 11-yard touch pass from Bennett to Puka Nacua with 1:48 left in the second quarter. With 17 seconds left before halftime.

Stick threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Quentin Johnson, increasing the Chargers lead 20-7.

Rypien for the Rams completed 3 of 6 passes in the first half for 11 yards, and Bennett completed 3 of 7 passes for 37 yards and one touchdown. Stick completed 14 of 21 passes for the Chargers for 109 yards and one touchdown.

The Rams would score on a three-yard touchdown run by Royce Freeman to trail the Chargers 20-14 with 11 seconds left in the third quarter after a 64-yard drive by Bennett.

The Chargers added another touchdown in the fourth quarter with a 37-yard touchdown run by Elijah Dotson to lead 27-14. Tanner Brown would kick a 39-yard field goal that had the Rams down by ten points, 27-17.

Dotson scored his last touchdown of the game with a 40-yard touchdown run to help secure the Chargers 34-17 win in preseason. In the video above, Rams quarterback Stetson Bennett after the game talks about the protection that the offensive line gave to look downfield for open receivers.
