Turnover Free Rams beat Jaguars 37-7
12/5/21 INGLEWOOD, CA - The Los Angeles Rams (7-4) have dropped three games in a roll, hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-9) at SoFi Stadium, got back to their winning ways by beating the Jacksonville Jaguars 37-7.
Matthew Stafford completed 26 passes for 295-yards and three touchdowns. Sony Michel was a big spark for the Rams carrying the ball 24 times for 141-yards and one touchdown.
Odell Beckham Jr. scored his first touchdown as a Ram after a 1-yard touchdown pass from Stafford in the fourth quarter.
It was all smiles for the Rams' special teams, offense, and defense, and relief to end the three-game losing streak ended.
"It sure feels good to be back on the winning side of things," Rams Head Coach Sean McVay said, "and now we've got to be able to build on it."
On the opening kick-off, Brandon Powell ran it back 65-yards to set the Rams' offense with good field position.
Stafford and Rams had to settle for a 40-yard field goal by Matt Gay, now led 3-0 in the first quarter after Ben Skowronek dropped a pass for the first down at the Jaguars’ 22-yard line.
The Rams' defense got the first turnover of the game after Aaron Donald made James Robinson fumble the football and Jalen Ramsey recovered the ball.
Stafford found Odell Beckham for a 27-yard reception to give the Rams a first down at the Jaguars' 5-yard line. Moments later, Sony Michel's 5-yard touchdown run gave the Rams a 10-0.
Jacksonville made the score 10-7 in the second quarter after Carlos Hyde scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with 13:22 left in the first half. Skowronek caught a 35-yard pass from Stafford to give the Rams a big first down.
The Rams led 13-10 after Gay kicked a 44-yard field goal with 7:41 left in the first half. Gay kicked a 37-yard field goal to give the Rams a 16-7 lead at halftime.
The Rams scored first in the third quarter when Stafford threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Kupp to give them a 23-10 lead.
Stafford and the Rams' offense continued to add to their points on the scoreboard when he threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Van Jefferson that made the score 30-7.
The Jaguars continued to struggle on offense, fumbled the football, and the Rams recovered the ball on their 45-yard line. Odell Beckham increased the Rams' lead to 37-7 after catching a 1-yard touchdown pass from Stafford.
The Rams held the Jaguars to 61-yards rushing and their quarterback Trevor Lawrence to 136-yards passing. Stafford and the Rams got off to a great start and had no turnovers during the game.
"I just try to attack each game and treat it as an opportunity to go play great," said Stafford. "Sometimes that doesn't happen. ... Tried to make sure that I wasn't putting the ball in harm's way, and our guys were getting open and making catches."
With the win, the Rams improved their record to (8-4), and the Jaguars' record fell to (2-10). The Rams will travel to take on the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football on December 13.
