WESTWOOD, CA - The UCLA Bruins scored 28 points off turnovers, 40 points in the paint, and held a 46-27 edge in rebounding to help beat the Oregon Ducks 75-49 at Pauley Pavilion.

Angela Dugalic led the Bruins in scoring with 17 points, Lauren Betts with 13 points, and Kiki Rice and Londyyn Jones both with 11 points. Phillipina Kyei had 14 points to the Ducks in scoring.

It's not that UCLA beat Oregon, but they were just physical in every phase of the game from start to finish, and perhaps the most physical team that head coach Cori Close ever had, as she talks about it in the video below.

The Bruins led 6-0 with a layup by Dugalic in the first quarter. Oregon trail 6-4 with a fall-away jump shot by Grace Vanslooth. Lauren Betts was posting up in the paint, was fouled on her made layup, and made her free throw to give UCLA a 9-4 lead.

The Bruins led 13-4 at the end of the first quarter when Kiki Rice knocked down a jump shot at the buzzer. Londyyn Jones drove to the basket, fouled on her made layup, and made her foul shot to give the Bruins a 22-4 lead.

Oregon trail 24-11 with a three-pointer by Ula Chamberlin. Jones would make a three-pointer, giving UCLA a 32-11 lead, and Oregon called timeout with 3:04 left in the first half. Phillipina Kyei made back-to-back baskets that had the Ducks trailing 35-15. UCLA led at halftime by twenty points, 37-17.

Betts continued to dominate the paint and used a reverse pivot for a left-hand layup to give the Bruins a 42-17 lead in the third quarter.

Oregon's offense started to get going, trailed 50-27 after Sammie Wagner was fouled on her layup and made her free throw. UCLA would go up 56-34 with a layup by Gabriela Jaquez. UCLA led Oregon 61-34 at the end of the third quarter.

The Bruins scored first in the fourth quarter with a three-pointer by Lina Sontag to lead by thirty points, 64-34. Christeen Iwuala's baby hook shot in the paint gave UCLA a 68-41 lead.

UCLA would close out the game, knocking off the Ducks 75-49, improving their record to (13-0, Pac-12, 2-0, and the Ducks fell to (9-6, Pac-12, 0-2), and will host the Oregon State Beavers on Sunday afternoon.
