USC comes up short against UCLA 69-59 in Pac-12 Semifinals

LAS VEGAS, NV - The UCLA Bruins knocked off their cross-town rivals, the USC Trojans, 69-59, to advance to the Pac-12 Championship Game against the Arizona Wildcats.

Jaime Jaquez Jr. had 19-points to lead UCLA in scoring, followed by Jules Bernard with 15-points, Tyger Campbell with 14-points, and Johnny Juzang with 10-points.

Boogie Ellis led USC in scoring with 27-points, Drew Peterson with 11-points, Isaiah Mobley with 9-points, and Kobe Johnson with 7-points.

Isaiah Mobley gave USC a 2-0 lead in the first half. Tyger Campbell tied the game 2-2 with his jump shot. Boogie Ellis's three-point shot gave the Trojans a 5-2 lead.

USC led 8-4 with another three-pointer by Eliis. Campbell's three-point shot made the score 8-7. UCLA led 9-8 with a jump shot by Johnny Juzang.

Drew Peterson got going early with his three-point shot and had the Trojans leading 11-9. Jaime Jaquez Jr. tied the game 11-11 with his jump shot. Isaiah Mobley gave the lead back to USC 13-11 with his jump shot.

Jaquez Jr tied the game 13-13 with two free throws. Jules Bernard's three-pointer had UCLA leading 16-13.

Kobe Johnson made a three-pointer to tie the game 16-16. Codey Riley gave the lead back to UCLA 18-16 with his jump shot. Campbell's three-point jump shot gave the Bruins a five-point lead, 21-16 8:59 left in the first half.

USC trailed 22-19 with another three-pointer by Ellis. Bernard was fouled on his three-point shot and made all three free throws that made the score 25-19.

The Bruins would lead 27-19 after Bernard made two more free throws. Chavez Goodwin's layup made the score 27-21. Jaquez Jr. would make a jump shot making the score 29-21.

Campbell would knock down another three-point shot to give the Bruins a 32-21 lead forcing the Trojans to call a timeout with 3:25 left in the first half. Kobe Johnson made two free throws that made the score 32-23.

Jaquez Jr.'s fall-away jump shot made the score 34-23. USC was down by ten points 34-24 when Goodwin made one free throw. Jaquez Jr. would make two free throws making the score 36-24.

Peterson would make two free throws that had USC trailing 36-26. USC trail at halftime 36-28 with a jump shot by Peterson.

Campbell and Jaquez Jr. both led UCLA in scoring with 11-points and Bernard with 8-points. Ellis led the Trojans in scoring with 8-points and Peterson with 7-points.

Jaquez Jr. would make a jump shot in the second half to give the Bruins a 38-28 lead. The Trojans trail 38-34 with a layup by Goodwin. UCLA led 40-32 with two free throws by Jaquez Jr.

Peterson's jump shot made the score 40-34. Mobley would make a layup that made the score 40-36. UCLA led by eight points 46-38 with a layup by Peyton Watson.

The Trojans trail 49-40 with a jump shot by Ellis. The Bruins would go up 51-40 with a layup by Jaquez Jr. with 11:39 left in the game. Ellis would knock down another three-pointer that made the score 51-43.

Ellis would make a jump shot that the Trojans trailing 51-45. Juzang would make a fall-away jump shot making the score 53-45. Peterson's jump shot made the score 53-47.

Bernard would give UCLA a 56-47 with his three-point shot with 7:58 left in the game. Ellis kept the Trojans in the game with a deep three-point shot that made the score 56-50.

Campbell made one free throw that made the score 57-50. Bernard's driving reverse layup had UCLA leading 59-50.

Mobley would make a layup that made the score 59-52. Bernard's two free throws made the score 61-52. Juzang would make a jump shot that gave the Bruins a 63-52 lead with 4:03 left in the game.

Mobley made one free throw that made the score 63-53. Jaquez Jr.'s driving layup had UCLA leading 65-53. Ellis's jump shot made the score 65-55.

Ellis's two free throws made the score 65-57. Campbell's layup had the Bruins leading by ten points, 67-57, with 58 seconds left in the game. UCLA beat USC 69-59 to advance to the Pac-12 Championship.
