USC has both Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year for the Pac-12 Conference.
LOS ANGELES, CA - USC quarterback Caleb Williams and defensive lineman Tuli Tuipulotu have been named Pac-12 Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year.
A Heisman candidate, Williams helped lead the Trojans to a conference-best 8-1 record as part of an 11-win season this year. With 47 touchdowns and only four interceptions this season, Williams was part of a revival in his first season at USC that saw Trojan football improve seven games from their dismal 4-8 record last year.
Williams also led the conference in both passing touchdowns, 47 while amassing 4,447 yards from scrimmage this season. His total yards this season shattered the previous record of 4,225 held by Sam Darnold.
His dominance doesn't only extend to the conference; Williams leads the nation in passing touchdowns with 37. He's also #1 in the country with points responsible per game averaging 21.7 points per game and 282 points cumulatively this season.
Williams' dominance has translated to USC having the top passing efficiency in the season and third in the country. The Trojans also lead the Pac-12 in scoring at 41 points per game.
In addition to being a Heisman finalist, Williams is also a finalist for three other trophies and awards, the Manning and the Davey O'Brien Awards.
This year would make back-to-back years the Trojans have had the Offensive Player of the Year, with last year's receiver Drake London winning the award.
Tuipolotu led the Pac-12 in sacks with his tenacity on defense with 12.5, which was third in the nation, and tackles for losses.
"He's been so important to what we've been doing defensively," said USC head coach Lincoln Riley.
Tuipolotu was named Pac-12 Defensive player-of-the-week multiple times this season and is a finalist for the Lombardi Award, the Chuck Bednarik Award, the Maxwell Award, and the Davey O'Brien Award.
The Trojans hope to end their season with a Cotton Bowl win as they face off against No.14 Tulane (11-2) on January 2nd in Arlington, Texas.
