USC Trojans are (9-0) after beating San Jose State Spartans 71-44
LOS ANGELES, CA -The USC Trojans are (9-0) after Kadi Sissoko with 17 points and Kayla Williams with 11 points beat the San Jose Spartans 71-44 at the Galen Center.
The Trojans scored 24 points off turnovers by the Spartans,16 points on second-chance shots, and fast breaks 24 points.
USC head coach Lindsay Gottlieb is in her second season and has done an incredible job of getting the program turn around, and now they are getting top players to come to USC to play basketball.
The Spartans led 5-0 with a three-pointer by Jasmine Singleton and a jump shot by Marisa Davis-Jones. USC trailed 5-2 with a layup by Kadi Sissoko.
The Trojans were down 7-5 with a jump shot by Destiny Littleton. The Spartans were up 10-5 with a three-pointer by Marisa Davis-Jones.
USC tied the game 11-11 with a layup by Sissoko. The Trojans ended the first quarter leading 12-11 with a free throw by Sissoko.
USC led 19-11 in the second quarter with a jump shot by Kayla Williams. Sissoko's jump shot gave the Trojans a ten-point lead, 21-11, with 7:28 left before halftime.
The Spartans were down 25-16 with a three-pointer by Sidney Richards. Clarice Akunwafo's layup gave the Trojans a 29-16 lead. USC led 34-16 with a three-pointer by Okako Adika.
San Jose State trailed at halftime 34-18 after Jada Holland made two of her three free throws after being fouled on her three-point shot attempt. Sissoko led all players with 11 points in the first half.
Sidney Richards' three-pointer in the third quarter had the Spartans down 34-20. Kayla Williams would make a three-point shot making the score 37-20.
Littleton drove to the basket and was fouled on her layup, and made her free throw that gave USC a 41-20 lead.
Sissoko would make a jump shot to give USC a 48-24 lead with 3:14 left in the third quarter. 0 Koi Love would make back-to-back layups, and the Trojans now led 55-28 to end the quarter.
San Jose State trailed in the fourth quarter 57-32 with a layup by Alani Fluker. USC led 60-32 with a three-pointer by Littleton.
Nailea Nicholas's jump shot had the Spartans down 68-38 with 2:29 left in the game. The Trojans went on to beat the Spartans 71-44.
