A'ja Wilson and the Aces knock off the Sparks 89-72

LOS ANGELES, CA - The best team in the WNBA, the Las Vegas Aces (11-2), beat the Los Angeles Sparks (5-8) at the Crypto.com Arena 89-72, with All-Star forward A'ja Wilson scoring 35-points eleven rebounds.

Nneka Ogwumike led the Sparks in scoring with 16-points, and nine rebounds, Katie Lou Samuelson with 13-points, Jordan Canada with 10-points, and Chennedy Carter with 9-points.

Liz Canbage had a chance to show her former team that she is one of the top centers in the WNBA, scored 6-points, and had six rebounds.

"I was trying to get her posted up offensively a little better," said Sparks interim head coach Fred Williams. "Guarding A'ja Wilson is a tough task because she knows how to get down and fade away and get a shot up."

Katie Lou Samuelson made a three-point shot, followed by a jump shot to give the Sparks a 5-2 lead in the first quarter. Las Vegas led 9-5 after A'ja Wilson would make a layup.

Lexie Brown tied the game 11-11 with a layup. Chennedy Carter would make a reverse layup, and the Sparks now led18-13. Wilson would knock down a jump shot that had Las Vegas trailing 18-17.

The Aces led 19-18 with a step-back jump shot by Chelsea Gray. Las Vegas lead at the end of the first quarter, 25-18. Nneka Ogwumike drove to the basket for a layup in the second quarter, and the Sparks now trail 27-22.

Las Vegas led 33-24 with a layup by Derica Hamby with 6:13 left before halftime. Theresa Plaisance would make a three-pointer making the score 44-29.

The Sparks would trail 45-31 after Brittney Sykes would make a jump shot at the top of the key. The Sparks trail 52-35 at halftime with a layup by Wilson.

Las Vegas led 69-43 in the third quarter with a three-pointer by Hamby. Brown would make a three-pointer, which made the score 71-50. Chennedy Carter had the Sparks trailing 78-54 with her jump shot at the end of the third quarter, 78-54.

Liz Canbage, with a put-back basket, had the Sparks trailing in the fourth quarter 78-56. Plum blew past the Sparks defenders in the paint for a left-hand layup making the score 80-59.

Cheney Ogwumike would make a layup that made the score 87-65. Plum would make two free throws to give Las Vegas a twenty-point lead, 89-69, with 2:24 left in the game.

Nneka Ogwumike made a three-pointer at the end of the game and made the final score 89-72. Hamby finished the game with 20-points, Kelsey Plum with 17-points, and Chelsea Gray with 10-points.
