Blake Snell and the Padres beat the Dodgers 6-1
LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Dodgers lost the last game of the series to the San Diego Padres 6-1 after Ryan Pepiot gave up six hits, four runs, five strikeouts, and two home runs after pitching six innings, and relief pitcher Joe Kelly allowed two runs, after winning 11-2 on Tuesday.
The Dodgers had no answer for the Padres starting pitcher Blake Snell, who pitched six innings, gave up only one hit to Mookie Betts and had eight strikeouts.
"Yeah, I mean, we've faced him quite a bit," said Dodgers Chris Taylor. "I thought tonight ... I mean, he's always had success against us. I thought tonight was the best he's looked since we've faced him."
Juan Soto gave the Padres a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning with two outs off of starting pitcher Ryan Pepiot with a solo home run over the right field.
Mookie Betts hit a lead-off single off of Snell in the bottom of the first inning was the only hit he gave up against the Dodgers.
The Padres had base runners on first and third base in the top of the fourth inning with no outs and led 4-0 with a three-run home run by Luis Campusano over the left-field fence.
San Diego added two more runs in the top of the seventh inning to lead 6-0 when Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a single to right field, and Garrett Cooper and Trent Grisham both scored.
The Dodgers finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the ninth inning after Kolten Wong hit a solo home run over right field, dropping the last game to the Padres 6-1.
