Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles in a thriller 38-35
GLENDALE, ARIZ — The Kansas City Chiefs had to come from behind to outlast the Philadelphia Eagles in a thrilling shoot-out and won 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII.
Patrick Mahomes and his soar ankle completed 21 of his 27 passes for 182 yards and three touchdowns and was named MVP.
Jalen Hurts set a Super Bowl record by scoring three rushing touchdowns, threw for 304 yards, and one touchdown while completing 27 of his 38 passes.
Philadelphia scored in the first quarter Jalen Hurts with a 1-yard touchdown run to give the Eagles a 7-0 lead. Kansas City tied the game 7-7 with an 18-yard touchdown pass to Travis Kelce.
The Eagles led 14-7 in the second quarter when A.J. Brown caught a 45-yard touchdown pass from Hurts.
The Chiefs' defense got their chance to score when Hurst fumbled the football, and Nick Bolton took it to the house for a 39-yard touchdown tying the game 14-14.
Philadelphia would lead 24-14 at halftime after Hurts scored on a 4-yard touchdown run, and Jake Elliott kicked a 35-yard field goal.
Kansas City trailed 24-21 in the third quarter with a 1-yard touchdown run by Isiah Pacheco. Elliot would kick a 33-yard field goal to give the Eagles a 27-21 lead at the end of the third quarter.
The Chiefs would get their first lead of the game, 28-27, in the fourth quarter when Mahomes drove their offense downfield and threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Kadarius Toney.
Toney would set up the Chiefs' next touchdown when he broke free on a punt return for 65 yards, and moments later, Mahomes threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Skyy Moore, making the score 35-27 with 9:22 left in the game.
Hurts would work his magic again, tying the game 35-35 with his 2-yard touchdown and scoring on the two-point conversion.
The Eagles' defense clamped down on the Chiefs' offense, forcing them into a third and long when the unthinkable happened.
Philadelphia's James Bradberry got caught grabbing Kansas City's Juju Smith- Schuster's jersey and was called for holding, giving the Chiefs an automatic first down. Moments later, Harrison Butker would kick a 27-yard field goal to lift the Chiefs over the Eagles 38-35.
