The Rams outlast Josh Allen and the Bills in a shootout 44-42
INGLEWOOD, CA - There was a shoot out west at SoFi Stadium with Matthew Stafford (Jesse James) and the Los Angeles Rams vs. Josh Allen
(Billy The Kid) and the Buffalo Bills, and when the smoke cleared, the Rams still stood with their boots on with a 44-42 victory to improve to 7-6.
Stafford completed 23 of his 30 passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns. Allen completed 22 of his 37 passes for 342 yards and three touchdowns and carried the football ten times for 87 yards and three touchdowns, becoming the first player ever in NFL history to do such a thing.
"Josh Allen is an alien," Rams coach Sean McVay said. "Some of the stuff that he can do and the things that he can create, we knew he was capable of that. He's shown that. That's why he's as well-respected and well-regarded in this league as he is.
"But our guys made just enough plays to be able to come out on top."
The Rams won the game with ball control and time of possession at 38:30 and 11 of 15 on third downs, compared to the Bills' time of possession at 21:30, which didn't allow Buffalo extra chances to score points.
Puka Nacua had 12 catches for 162 yards, one touchdown, and carried the football five times for 92 yards and one touchdown, and Kyren Williams rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns.
Matthew Stafford and the Rams' opening drive went offense 70 yards on 12 plays, and Kyren Williams scored on a 3-yard touchdown run, and the extra point kicked by Joshua Karty was good to give the Rams a 7-0 lead.
The Bills would respond with Josh Allen taking their offense 70 yards on nine plays downfield to the Rams' 1-yard line and scored on a quarterback keeper tying the game 7-7.
Los Angeles next possession made it to Buffalo's 3-yard line and had to settle for a 22-yard field goal by Joshua Karty to regain the lead 10-7.
Buffalo trailed 17-7 in the second quarter after Sam Martin's (P) punt block at their 48-yard line by the Rams' Jacob Hummel, and Hunter Long ran it back for a 22-yard touchdown.
The Bills would narrow the Rams' lead 17-14 after Allen connected with his running back Ty Johnson for a 41-yard touchdown with 10:23 before halftime.
Puka Nucua would add to the Rams' points total after he scored on a 4-yard touchdown run to increase their lead to ten points, 24-14, with 2:36 left on the clock before halftime.

The Bills were facing 2nd and four, broke out of the pocket, and ran downfield for 30 yards to set up a 1st and ten at the Rams' 44-yard line. Los Angeles' lead was cut to 38-35 when Allen threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Mack Allen with 8:49 left in the game.
With Buffalo putting pressure on Los Angeles to score, Stafford would deliver with 1:54 seconds left in the game, threw a 19-yard touchdown to Nacua to give them a nine-point cushion, 44-38.
The nine-point cushion that the Rams had was gone after some costly pass interference had set up the Bills to have 2nd & goal, and Allen scored on a 1-yard touchdown and made the score 44-42 with 1:00 left in the game.
Buffalo would attempt an onside kick, but the Rams Ronnie Rivers recovered the football at their 45-yard line. With 7 seconds left in the game, Ethan Evans had to punt the football, causing the time to expire, and the Rams knew they dodged a bullet.
