LAS VEGAS, NV - Josh Jacobs' rushing style guarantees a happy Christmas for the offensive line of the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders defeated the Houston Texans 38-20 on Sunday because of Jacobs' 143 yards and three touchdowns on the ground in the second half.
The Raiders (2-4) dominated the Texans (1-4-1) after halftime in a matchup of one-win teams coming off byes, outscoring them 28-10 on the strength of 227 yards of offense, including 98 yards on the ground from Jacobs.
When Davis Mills was intercepted and returned 73 yards for a touchdown, safety Duron Harmon put an end to Las Vegas' four-possession scoring streak and secured the victory.
Derek Carr completed 21 of his 27 passes for 241- yards and one touchdown. Davante Adams hauled in eight passes for 95 yards. A season-high 400 yards of offense were totaled by the Raiders.
Jacobs has run for 441 yards in his previous three games and is competing for a contract after his fifth-year option wasn't picked up before the season. Since Napoleon Kaufman in 1997, he became the first Raider to run for more than 100 yards in three consecutive games. Jacobs is the sixth player in the last six seasons to have three straight games with 100+ yards of running. His second game in a row with three running touchdowns.
Harmon Mills completed 28 of his 40 passes for 302-yards and two touchdowns. Dameon Pierce, who had 92-yards on 20 carries, was the Texans' top rusher. The Texans gained a season-high 404 yards.
