Tyler Anderson signs with the Los Angeles Angels
LOS ANGELES, CA - Last season's starting pitcher for the Dodgers, Tyler Anderson, has signed with the Angels. The agreement spans three years and $40 million.
In 2022, Anderson, who will turn 33 in December, went 15-5 with a 2.50 ERA. He has 138 strikeouts in 178.2 innings with a WHIP of 1.002.
This was a significant improvement from his career statistics, which improved to 44-43 with a 4.16 ERA and a 1.245 WHIP. This year, Anderson also made his first All-Star squad.
Before joining the Dodgers, Anderson pitched for the Rockies for four seasons, the Giants for one, and the Pirates and Mariners in 2021. The Angels are at a pivotal juncture.
They have Shohei Ohtani under contract for another year and have promised not to deal him throughout the offseason.
Last year, the Angels ended 33 games behind the Astros in the AL West, with a record of 73-89. Midseason, the team sacked Joe Maddon. Phil Nevin, who will return as Angels manager in 2023, replaced Maddon.
